It was constructed in 1759 in the same place where the chapel of the School de los Mareantes had been. After the French occupation it was secularized and turned into a warehouse, later becoming an Anglican church and theater.
In 1953 the Brotherhood of the Esperanza de Triana, following the order of its spiritual director José Sebastián y Bandarán, decides to begin its restauration, beginning in 1958 with a project by Aurelio Gómez Millán. The blessing took place in 1962 and on Holy Friday of that year the brotherhood finished its penitential station in its new head office. In the main nave one can find the venerated image of Nuestra Señora de la Esperanza de Triana.
In the year 2010 works of enlargement began, following the architectural project of José Ramón Rodríguez Gautier, and thanks to the acquisition of adjacent plots to the chapel.
